Keshia Golding-Cooper, MA, LAC, SAC

Who is KGC?

A highly respected educator, Keshia retired from New Jersey K-12 school system with over 25 years of experience in education and mental health, largely focused on Student Support Services. 

Keshia earned her Bachelor of Science in Health/Physical Education from Seton Hall University and obtained her Masters of Arts in Counseling as well as her Supervisor and Principal Certifications from Montclair State University. While at Seton Hall University, Keshia was a member of the Track & Field Team as a walk-on student/athlete and a Big East Champion.  After graduating, she continued her love of the sport with a 12 year coaching career in which she served as Montclair High School Head Girls Cross Country and Track & Field Coach.

Throughout her time in education, Keshia had the privilege of working as a teacher, track and field coach, Student Assistance Counselor (crisis counselor), building administrator and Director of School Counseling at the district level.  She concluded her career at the New Jersey Department of Education, serving as the Director of the Office of Recruitment, Preparation, and Certification. 

As the daughter of Jamaican immigrants, Keshia values the importance of education, more importantly, having access to programs and support systems that enable students to reach their highest potential. Keshia understands from first hand experience that wanting to be successful is often not enough without the support needed to fulfill one's dreams. As a result of her experiences, Keshia is passionate about ensuring that all students are afforded the supports necessary for success. She worked to develop engaging ways to provide access to educational programs and opportunities for all students. Keshia truly believes that “exposure is everything.”

KGC Consulting is truly an extension of her commitment to supporting children and families as they navigate the challenges of mental health and education.  Her focus on well-being and empowerment drives everything she does. Keshia is dedicated to helping others gain the tools and confidence to create lasting, positive change in their communities.

Her experience as an educator, therapist within a private practice and a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor provides a unique perspective on providing professional development and consulting services to organizations supporting youth and adults. 

Keshia is married to her husband Damen and is the mother to two teenagers, son Avery and daughter Ava. Keshia is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, initiated in Delta Zeta Chapter in 1996, a member National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Delta Nu Chapter as well as the Past Vice President of Jack & Jill of America, Inc, Bergen-Passaic Chapter.

When not working or being “Coach Mom,” Keshia enjoys fitness and spending time with her family and friends.
